Product Warranty

Northwest Door and Sash Company was founded in 1987.  Over the years the company has had a very low occurrence of warranty issues.  At an informal level, Northwest Door and Sash, on a good faith basis, rectifies any reasonable complaints in a timely manner.  The company’s intent is to do what is right for all parties.

The express warranties set forth herein are in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied, including without limitation any warranties of merchantability of fitness for a particular purpose and all other such warranties, to the extent permitted by law, and are hereby disclaimed and excluded by Northwest Door and Sash Company.

MILLWORK, DOORS AND WINDOWS

Northwest Door and Sash Company’s millwork is warranted to be free from defects in materials and/or workmanship.  Natural variations in color or texture of woods are not defects.  All millwork should be inspected upon arrival and before installation and/or finishing.

It is the customer’s responsibility to properly care for and protect new woodwork against moisture or excessive dryness, and to see that top and bottom edges and all surfaces are thoroughly painted or finished.

For a period of two years from the date of manufacture, Northwest Door and Sash Company agrees to repair or replace without charge, any items which are defective.  Northwest Door and Sash Company will not under any circumstances be responsible for installation, repainting, refinishing, or other similar activities necessary to complete the replacement.  Additionally and specifically, Northwest Door and Sash Company will not be responsible for any adjacent work that may have been displaced or affected.  It will be the customer’s responsibility to complete the replacement.

Northwest Door and Sash Company will furnish either replacement millwork, free of charge, F.O.B. the original point of delivery or send a representative to make on-site repairs at Northwest Door and Sash Company’s option.

DOORS AND SASH

All of the stile and rail doors and/or sash manufactured by Northwest Door and Sash Company meets or exceeds industry standards and are warranted for two years from the date of manufacture.  We do not warranty against bowing or warpage of hinged doors or sash which are more than 8′-0″ in height or more than 3′-0″ in width or having stiles greater than 5 1/2″ in width.

Each of our doors and sash have been inspected before shipment and we have determined them to be free of defects which would cause the door or sash to be unfit for its intended use.  Upon receipt of one or more of our doors or sash, it is recommended that you inspect them as soon as possible.  You should be checking:

1. for the possibility of freight damage.

2. to verify that you received what you ordered.

3. that each sash and door is flat and straight and has no defects.

If a visible and/or apparent defect exists upon your receipt and inspection of a door or sash it is imperative that we be notified before any further costs are incurred.  We will not participate or assume any liability for these costs.  Claims due to warpage may be deferred for up to 6 months from date of claim in order to allow for conditioning and equalizing to humidity and temperature conditions.

Warp shall not be considered a defect unless it exceeds 1/4″ in the plane of the door or sash.  Doors must be properly hung and finished in accordance with standard sealing and finishing practices in direct relationship to the exposure to be expected.  Unsatisfactory appearance and service due to failure to finish the door or sash properly is not covered by this warranty.

Painting a door or window dark grey, black, or any very dark color causes it to absorb heat and dry out.  Excessive heat build-up and loss of moisture can cause pitch seepage, warpage, and/or bowing, as well as a greater chance of finish failure.  Consequently, the choice of any dark color selections voids our limited warranty with regard to seepage of pitch, finish issues, warpage, bowing, cracking or splitting.

Variations in the colors of the wood or in the textures and grain of the wood are normal and are not considered a defect.  Since most parts of our doors and windows are made with solid lumber, the natural variations of color and grain characteristics are sometimes more prominent than in veneered products.  However, it is our feeling that these natural color and grain variations are a part of the beauty of solid handmade wood doors and windows.

INSULATING GLASS

All insulating glass is warranted against failure of the air seal for a period of ten years from date of manufacture.  Exterior finishes must be comprehensively maintained; specifically all glass stop must retain a robust finish.  Failure to do so will void the warranty.  Insulating glass not installed by Northwest Door and Sash Company is not covered under this warranty.  Further, this warranty does not cover insulating glass installed in rooms with swimming pools, Jacuzzis (hot tubs), bathtubs, showers, or in greenhouses.  Should there be a failure of the air seal within the warranty period, Northwest Door and Sash Company shall supply either the insulating glass only, or the insulated glass in a sash at Northwest Door and Sash Company’s option.  It will be the customer’s responsibility to complete the replacement.  All glass is warranted to meet ASTM standard C1036 and/or C1048 (tempered) regarding visible impurities.

EXTENDED WARRANTIES

Time period extensions to the warranties set forth herein are available only when specified in the Northwest Door and Sash Company proposal document, or addendum thereof, and usually include additional costs.

The remedies set forth above are the sole and exclusive remedies provided hereunder and Northwest Door and Sash Company shall not be liable for any further loss, damages, or expenses, including incidental or consequential damages, directly or indirectly arising from the use of its products.
